A submersible pump is a powerful pump that operates completely underwater. Because the pump's motor is below water level, it does not make any noise and does not require priming. Submersible pumps are available in several sizes. Shallow-well models are smaller than deep-well models. A cable powering the motor typically extends 50 feet in a commercial environment, but can be much longer in an industrial situation. The cable used to power a submersible pump motor may be made of bronze or galvanized steel.


When installing a submersible fountain pump, be sure to use a qualified electrician. Pumps that are placed near a water feature require an outlet that is at least six feet away from the water. They should also be plugged into an outdoor-rated outlet. A submersible fountain pump should not mix water and sewage, as this could damage it. If the pump starts making unusual noises or stops working, it's time to replace it.


Submersible fountain pumps come in many different capacities and styles, and can be arranged vertically or horizontally. They also feature energy-efficient motors and can operate continuously. Many of these pumps can be used for a variety of indoor and outdoor water features, including decorative water displays and waterscapes.


Before purchasing a submersible fountain pump, you must understand its specifications. It's important to determine the height of your water feature and the total head of the system. Both height and friction play a part in determining the total head. Ensure that your pump will have enough power to raise water at the desired height.


A submersible fountain pump's discharge size is also important. Its outlet size must be compatible with the spout or tube of your fountain. Using the right pump can make the process of installing your fountain easier. The right size will increase the lifespan of your water feature.

These pumps typically consist of a shaft. The shaft can be solid or hollow and may include keyways or flats. Figure 4 shows a series of shaft profiles. These shafts may be made of steel, Inconel, or Monel alloy. The shafts are connected to a pass drive between the motor and the pump section.


Pumps used in the construction sector are expected to see positive growth. They are used to move excess water from basements and building sites and to pump slurry in support of construction needs. This industry has grown to become one of the largest in the world, and the demand for electric submersible pumps will continue to rise.


Electric submersible pumps are currently deployed in 150,000 to 200,000 wells worldwide. The pump's design is similar to that of a centrifugal pump but features a submersible electric motor. The pump is connected to electric power and surface controls via armor-protected cables. The pumps can lift up to 4,770 m3/d and up to 30,000 bbl/d.
